ABOUT GALILEE AME CHURCH
REVEREND CAROLINE L. JONES
Rev. Jones holds the following degrees: Bachelor of Fine Arts, Howard University, Washington, D.C.; Master of Arts in Special Education, University of the District of Columbia and the Master of Divinity degree from Howard University. She is certified with the District of Columbia Public School as a Special Education Teacher (Non Categorical K-12) her experiences on the job since 1984 include: planning and implementing Individualized Education Programs, participating/giving leadership in daily program/instructions, participation in student reviews and/or case conferences with a Multi-Disciplinary team, completing case studies/reports/evaluations, and classroom management, as well as various school committees.

Her membership and affiliation with organizations include: The Kiwanis International, The Capital District of Kiwanis International, The Kiwanis Club of Shepherd Park, Washington, D.C.; the Council for Exceptional Children, the National Education Association, the Washington Teachers Union, the National Council of Negro Women Inc.; the Federal City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Reverend Caroline L. Jones is a native of San Bernardino California and was ordained Itinerant Deacon in 1998, from the Second Episcopal District African Methodist Episcopal Church Washington Annual Conference. Rev. Jones was the assistant to the Pastor at Brown Memorial A.M.E. Church in Washington, D.C. under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Henry Y. White. She served as a class leader and performed volunteer work with the Pauline T. Mattison Missionary Unit, taught Adult Church School, served as the minister to the Women of Faith Women’s Fellowship, the Intercessory Prayer ministry and ministered to the youth (“Youth Time) during the 11:00 AM Worship Service.

In April 2002, Rev. Jones was ordained an Itinerant Elder at the 52nd Session of the Washington Annual Conference. In 2003, she begin serving at Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church in Washington, D.C. in many ministries to include chair of the Health Ministry, Director of the Transportation Ministry, Minister to Women, and Superintendent of Church School, the New Members/Class of Instruction Ministry. January 1, 2010, Rev. Jones was assigned by the pastor to serve as the Assistant Pastor of Christ Our Redeemer. On April 19, 2013 Rev. Jones was assigned her first pastoral charge to Galilee AME Church in Washington, DC.
HISTORY OF GALILEE AME CHURCH
In June of 1993, Rev. Wanda London accepted a challenge presented by then Presiding Bishop H. Hartford Brookins, to step out on faith and begin a new charge.
On October 10, 1993, at Anthony Bowen Elementary School Galilee AME Church held its first worship service.
In April 2001, after seven years Rev. Rita A. Williams, was given her first pastoral charge and assigned to Galilee. Under Rev. Williams' leadership Galilee relocated and begun worshipping at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church 600 M Street SW, each Sunday at 2:00 PM and Bible Study on Wednesday, at 7:30 PM.
In 2008 Galilee received its third pastor in Rev. Dr. S. Isaiah Harvin.

In April 2012 Rev. Will Kenlaw was appointed the fourth pastor at Galilee.

On April 19,2013 at the 63rd Session of the Washington, Annual Conference Rev. Caroline Lightner Jones was given her first pastoral charge and assigned to Galilee. Galilee soon moved to 60 I Street SW and begun worshipping at Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle Church. In July 2015 Galilee moved the church to the Wheeler Creek Community Center 1130 Varney Street SE Washington, DC.
